Chocolate Cake with Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 5 tbs milk
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 lb of confectioners sugar
  • To make the cake combine the butter, baking cocoa and water in a saucepan.
  • Cook until the butter melts, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine the cocoa mixture, sugar and flour in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Add the eggs, baking soda, buttermilk and vanilla and mix well.
  • Pour into a greased and floured 9×13 inch cake pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Cook on a wire rack.
  • For the frosting, melt the butter in a saucepan.
  • Add the milk and baking cocoa.
  • Add the confectioners sugar gradually, mixing until a good spreading consistency is reached.
  • Let cool before using.
  • Once the cake is cool spread frosting all over.
