Eastern Carolina Barbecue Sauce
- 1 gallon vinegar
- 3/4 cup salt
- 2 tbs cayenne pepper
- 3 tbs dried red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup molasses or 1 cup brown sugar
Eastern Carolina barbecue sauce does not use tomatoes and is very tart and tangy.
- Combine all ingredients.
- Allow to stand for several hours.
- Serve as a table or basting sauce.
- Recipe may be halved.
