Eastern Carolina Barbecue Sauce
|1 gallon vinegar|
|3/4 cup salt|
|2 tbs cayenne pepper|
|3 tbs dried red pepper flakes|
|1/2 cup molasses or 1 cup brown sugar|
Eastern Carolina barbecue sauce does not use tomatoes and is very tart and tangy.
- Combine all ingredients.
- Allow to stand for several hours.
- Serve as a table or basting sauce.
- Recipe may be halved.
