Onion Pie
Ingredients
1 frozen (9inch) pie crust, thawed | ||
1/4 cup unsalted butter | ||
2 cups peeled, thinly sliced onions | ||
4 eggs beaten | ||
1/2 cup heavy cream | ||
1/8 tsp nutmeg | ||
1/8 tsp nutmeg | ||
2 tsp black pepper | ||
1/2 tsp hot paprika | ||
1 cup grated Swiss Cheese |
- In a large saute pan, melt the butter.
- Pre- bake the pie crust for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Remove from oven and set aside.
- Add the onions and saute’ until golden brown.
- Remove the pan from the heat.
- Combine the onion mixture, eggs, cream, nutmeg, salt, pepper paprika and cheese. Mix well.
- When the filling is prepared, preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Turn the filling into the pie crust.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Serve hot.
