Easy Marinara Sauce

  • 4 tbs olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 (28oz) can of Italian plum tomatoes (we like Cento brand)
  • 1 (6oz) can of tomato paste
  • 1 (6oz) can of tomato paste
  • kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper to taste
This is the recipe for authentic Marinara sauce. This sauce not only is great for pasta, it also works well with fish, scallops, chicken or veal Parmesan.

  • In a large sauce pan heat the olive oil and add the onion and garlic, and gently saute for several minutes until onions are soft. Stir frequently and do not allow the garlic to burn. About 3 minutes.
  • Add the tomato paste and combine with the onions and garlic, stirring well.
  • Add the tomatoes and break up with a wooden spoon Cook using medium low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Tear basil leaves and add to the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
