Cast Iron Buttermilk Corn Bread
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or shortening
- 1 1/2 cups buttermmilk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- Heat oven to 450 degrees.
- Grease a 10 inch cast iron skillet.
- Add all ingredients to a large bowl, and mix until well combined.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until top is sightly browned.
