Orange Glazed Pound Cake
Ingredients
Cake: | ||
1/2 cup butter | ||
1/2 cup granulated sugar | ||
2 egg yolks | ||
1 tbs orange juice | ||
1/4 cup sour cream | ||
1 tsp grated orange peel | ||
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract | ||
1/2 tsp kosher salt | ||
1/8 tsp baking powder | ||
1/8 tsp baking soda | ||
1 cup ap flour | ||
2 egg whites | ||
Glaze: | ||
1/2 cup confectioners sugar | ||
2 tbs orange juice | ||
1 tbs butter | ||
1 tbs orange liqueur | ||
1/2 tsp orange zest |
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg yolks, orange juice, sour cream, peel, vanilla, salt, baking powder, baking soda.
- Beat in the flour.
- Beat egg whites until stiff pekes form. Fold into the cake batter.
- Pour the batter into a well buttered loaf pan.
- Bake at at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove cake from pan and cool on a wire rack.
- To prepare the glaze, add all ingredients to a sauce pan and heat until boiling. Mix well, then pour over the cake.
