Orange Glazed Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tbs orange juice
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp grated orange peel
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup ap flour
  • 2 egg whites
  • Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tbs orange juice
  • 1 tbs butter
  • 1 tbs orange liqueur
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg yolks, orange juice, sour cream, peel, vanilla, salt, baking powder, baking soda.
  • Beat in the flour.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff pekes form. Fold into the cake batter.
  • Pour the batter into a well buttered loaf pan.
  • Bake at at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove cake from pan and cool on a wire rack.
  • To prepare the glaze, add all ingredients to a sauce pan and heat until boiling. Mix well, then pour over the cake.
