Indian Lemon Rice
Ingredients
1 cup Basmati rice | ||
1 tsp mustard seeds | ||
1 tsp blackgram dal (available at Asian or Indian grocery) | ||
1 tsp yellow split peas | ||
1 green chilie | ||
1/8 tsp oil | ||
1/4 tsp fenugreek | ||
1 tsp turmeric | ||
1/4 tsp ginger | ||
1/4 tsp cumin | ||
6 tbs lemon juice | ||
fresh cilantro to taste | ||
fresh curry leaves to taste (available at Indian or Asian grocery) |
- Cook rice according to package directions.
- Fry the mustard seeds, blackgram dal, and yellow split peas in oil. Set aside.
- Fry chili, fenugreek, turmeric, ginger and cumin in oil and add them to the cooked rice.
- Add fresh lemon juice, cilantro and curry leaves.
