Gingerbread
Ingredients
2 1/3 cups flour | ||
1/3 cup sugar | ||
1 cup molasses | ||
3/4 cup hot water | ||
1/2 cup shortening | ||
1 egg | ||
1 tsp baking soda | ||
1 tsp ground ginger | ||
1 tsp ground cinnamon | ||
3/4 tsp salt |
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Grease and flour a 9x9x2 inch baking pan.
- Add all ingredients to a bowl of an electric mixer and beat on medium speed for 3-4 minutes, scraping down the sides of the pan several times.
- Add the mixture to the baking pan and bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes our clean.
- Allow to cool, cut into squares and serve each square with a dollop of whipped cream.
