Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce


  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 2 and 1/4 cups half and half
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbs pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamon
  • 4 cups French bread cubes
  • 1/3 cup golden raisins
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 beaten egg yolk
  • 2 tbs water
  • 2 tbs bourbon
  • In a bowl beat together eggs, half and half, sugar, vanilla, cardamon and cinnamon.
  • In a 2 quart baking dish toss together bread cubes and raisins.
  • Pour mixture evenly over bread mixture.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center come out clean.
  • Cool slightly and serve with warm¬†whiskey¬†sauce if desired.
  • To make the whiskey sauce in a sauce pan melt the butter.
  • Stir in the sugar, egg yolk and water.
  • Cook stirring constantly over medium low heat for 5-6 minutes or until the sugar dissolves and the mixture boils.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the bourbon.
  • Serve warm.
